SPIEGEL: What threatens Snowden if he returns to the U.S.?
McCain: He would put on trial, but he 's not coming back.
SPIEGEL: Not next year, when his asylum expires in Russia?
McCain: Never. President Vladimir Putin will grant him refuge forever. The Russians know that it will be unattractive for future defectors if they handover Snowden. I'm sure Snowden has told the Russian secret services all he knows.
